OEM 即 Original Equipment/Entrusted Manufacture（译为原始设备制造商或原产地委托加工)
The meaning is that brand producers do not directly produce products, but take charge of the design and development of new products with their own key core technology, control the sales channel, and entrust other manufacturers of similar products to produce specific processing tasks through the contract order. Then buy out the ordered products at a low price and affix their own brand trademarks directly. This kind of cooperation mode of entrusted production is referred to as OEM. Manufacturers who undertake processing tasks are called OEM manufacturers, and their products are called OEM products. It can be seen that OEM production belongs to the mode of "OEM production" in processing trade. In international trade, it is the service export with commodities as the carrier.
The former is the product design proposal proposed by the entruster -- no matter who completes the overall design -- and the entruster shall not provide the product adopting the design for a third party. While the latter from design to production are completed by the production side, in the product after the formation of the OEM side to buy. Whether the manufacturer can produce the same product for the third party depends on whether the OEM buys out the design scheme. The ODM depends on whether the brand has bought out the copyright of the product. To put it bluntly, the difference between OEM and ODM lies in who owns the intellectual property rights of the products. If the principal owns the intellectual property rights of the products, it is OEM, also known as "OEM". If it is the overall design carried out by the producer, it is ODM, commonly known as "OEM".
